We kindly ask that goods are not left outside when our stores are closed. We’ll gratefully accept them during trading hours when we have the capacity to store them.

Our guide to donating quality second hand goods

While we appreciate all donations, there are some things which regulations prevent us from accepting or there isn’t much of a demand for. And we can only accept quality second hand goods that are in sellable condition.

Suitable items are:

  • In good condition
  • Not damaged or broken
  • Clean and sanitised
  • Something you would consider giving to a friend

Unsuitable items include:

  • Any items that are stained, torn or in need of repair
  • Whitegoods
  • Bathroom screens
  • Baby furniture such as cots, prams and highchairs
  • Non-digital TVs and TV units for non-digital televisions
  • Building materials, underlay and carpets, awning curtain rods
  • Gas appliances
  • Computers and e-waste – please refer to http://recyclingnearyou.com.au
  • Mattresses and bases, bunk beds
  • Outdoor playground equipment (swing sets, trampolines)
  • Furniture over 2 metres wide or 2 metres high
  • Wall units
  • Office equipment including chairs and filing cabinets
  • Encyclopedias, text books, magazines and old library books

If you are unsure whether your items are suitable for donation, please phone customer service on 1300 DONATE (1300 366 283), or email 1300donate(at)bsl.org.au. We’ll be glad to assist.
