What we can't accept

While we appreciate donations to our community stores, there are some items for which there is little demand or which regulations prevent us from accepting.

These things include:

  • Any items that are stained, torn or in need of repair
  • Bath and shower screens 
  • Exercise equipment
  • Children’s bicycles
  • Baby furniture such as cots, prams and highchairs - please contact St Kilda Mums or Big Group Hug (Big Group Hug does not accept cots, and are based in Rosanna)
  • Non-digital televisions, and TV units for non-digital televisions
  • Carpets and underlay
  • Building materials and kitchens
  • Gas appliances
  • Computers – please refer to http://recyclingnearyou.com.au for computer donations and dishwashers
  • Stoves and ovens 
  • Mattresses, bed ensembles, bunk beds, wire sprung bed bases, bed heads on their own or trundle beds 
  • Outdoor playground equipment (for example swing sets, trampolines)
  • Desks over 1.2 metres wide
  • Any items over 2 metres in height 
  • Curtain rods, tracks and awnings
  • Wall units 
  • Whiteboards 
  • Office chairs and filing cabinets
  • Pianos and organs
  • Industrial sewing machines
  • Encyclopedias, text books, magazines, old library books
