Fridges and Whitegoods

Brotherhood Fridges calls on the public to donate second-hand fridges or old fridges that are no longer working or required. These fridge donations are collected from Melbourne households FREE of charge - you can book online here or view our list of suburbs  and collection days.

When fridges and whitegoods arrive at our workshop they are checked to see whether they are able to be repaired using alternate parts to help it run more efficiently.

From here there are three recycling options for the fridges:

  1. The fridge is repaired using alternate parts and is sold through selected Brotherhood of St Laurence Community Stores at an affordable price.
  2. The fridge is unable to be repaired and is recycled as scrap metal, or
  3. The team removes harmful CFC gases. For this they may receive Government Initiatives called Victorian Energy Efficient Certificates (VEECs).
